This is my first time ever participating in a Game Jam!! It's incomplete, but thanks for checking it out regardless. This is a very rough build and I wasn't able to get any audio or sound effects into the game.

Unfortunately I really found myself scrambling at the end to get a finished product, but I've learned so much and will certainly not make the same mistakes next time I participate. Regardless, I'm very proud to have submitted even anything at all, and I plan on making some simple audio and polishing up a few things over the next week or so to get it in an, at least sort of, presentable state.

Huge thanks to user Cyporkador on Itch.io for the tileset I used for all the environments in the game as well as the main character sprites. All of the sprites that look horribly 2D and out-of-place were made by yours truly (I have lots to learn about pixel art haha).

Thanks so much, and have a great day!

PATCH 1

Thank you to anybody who's tried the game so far!! Patch 1 fixes most of the game-breaking bugs that were in my first submission, and there's now sound effects and music!! I'm going to continue to polish the game, though I'm not sure what the protocol is for patching Game Jam games, so let me know if I'm doing something very wrong!

Thanks, and I'll see you next patch!

PATCH 2

In this update I polished some collision issues, added all missing sprites, added end credits, and added support for running the game in-browser. This may be the final update other than to add the executable zip as a download option, but thank you to whoever reads this and I hope to see you for the next game I post on here! I honestly and truly learnt so much by developing this game and participating in Adventure Jam 2023, and I can't wait to see how much further along I am when next year comes around.

Bye!!

Aidan

"I Forgot Something!"

I've had that realisation quite a few times. Often 5 minutes before - or worse, 5 minutes after - a deadline. Very appropriate for a jam.

The idea of blocking some areas with sprinklers is absolutely fitting and cute. I really like the squirrel's dialogue too. If you still want to give the game some polish: I couldn't enter the screen in the far east. Nor the one with the squirrel and the acorn (after the water was turned off). A text box indicating that the water has stopped flowing would also be great.

Congratulations on your successful participation in your first jam. It's not so easy to create something presentable before the deadline. Glad to hear it wasn't your last ride. :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to try it out :) in my panic to submit on time, I accidentally painted a bunch of sprites on a collision layer where I wasn't supposed to which is the reason those areas are all blocked off - I'm going to patch that ASAP!!

I also think the idea for a text box at the sprinkler faucet is a great idea - I could tell I needed to telegraph that to the player somehow but wasn't sure how to do it in time. I'll add that in as well :)

Thanks again for the kind words and support!! Can't wait to participate in many more jams in the future!!
